It plays by Romero’s guidelines by having a sluggish zombie horde which means their staggering relentlessness is a consistent fear, if one tempered by an excellent comic script. And these aren’t simply disposable figures made become drawn to pieces in a explosion of O-negative. Everyone else issues here, which means that every zombie encounter does too. Toss in an excellent sound recording, exceptional shows, and much more red than it is possible to toss a cricket bat at, and Shaun for the Dead is a comedy horror masterpiece.
